Educator, Writer, Researcher, and Consultant — Self-employed & Freelance

• Designed, launched, and continue to manage an award-winning website and podcast (Chronic Sex) focused on sex and disability, including writing all web copy and most articles. Developed a social media strategy for my sex ed site, accumulating over 11k followers in a few years' time. Managed guest posters, editing their articles. Collaborated with multiple affiliates and colleagues to promote their work. Mentored upcoming sex educators.
• Designed and presented curricula and 8+ workshops to a wide variety of audiences including health care providers, sex educators, colleges, and laypeople.
• Conceptualized a research project from scratch surveying over 200 patients about healthcare discussions between patients and healthcare providers and handling promotion while managing a $2500 grant from The Effing Foundation for this work.
• Freelance reporting and writing for clients including the U.S. Pain Foundation's INvisible Magazine, Healthline, Ask Men, and Well+Good. Ghostwritten healthcare articles for Visiture.
• Provided social media and website management for Gender Station (now defunct), developing social media handles from scratch, writing blog posts, and editing the website.
• Served as a sensitivity reader for multiple children's book projects on childhood disability.
• Served as a content management intern for MD Collab (Nov 2017 - April 2018), creating social media and written pieces around Carbon Health’s start-up EHR system.
• Covered multiple conferences in writing and social media, including the American College of Rheumatology Annual Meeting (2017, 2020), Woodhull Sexual Freedom Summit (2017), and ePharma Summit (2016).
• Nov 2022-Feb 2024: Contracted in tandem with a team of rheumatologists and the American College of Rheumatology to create Continuing Medical Education (CME) for pediatricians to recognize juvenile arthritis. Spearheaded the creation of resources for parents and families as well as community dissemination efforts.
• Sept 2023-Current: Working as a contracted researcher and consultant for Elevate Advocacy. Increased awareness of the company via LinkedIn, where I increased the number of followers by over 600 in four months. Other duties include data collection, research on federal policy, and stakeholder mapping.

DEIB Content Writer - PowerToFly

Dec 2022 – Jul 2023

• Wrote video scripts and lesson text for PowerToFly’s DEIB Membership product PowerUp.
• Created and developed the SHRM-certified Disability in the Workplace course from scratch, writing scripts and lesson text in 4 weeks.
• Wrote scripts for 30 short videos in 6 months to share basics about DEIB, social justice, the LGBTQ+ community, the disability and neurodivergent community, the BIPOC community, and more.
• Worked on LMS development via Open EdX.

Communications Specialist - The Trans Counseling Advocacy Research and Education (CARE) Collaborative

Aug 2021 – Dec 2022

• Created a social media presence and non-academic website for the Trans CARE Collaborative, including writing all web copy.
• Grew followers to multiple thousands in over a year by regular posting, sharing others' posts, and following a social media strategy I developed.
• Recruited new members interested in joining the transgender-affirming psychology group.
• Raised awareness of the issues facing transgender and nonbinary people of color, especially related to mental health access and care.

Provider Directory Coordinator, Communities - Included Health

• Added and audited IH's internal directory of over 2,000 culturally competent healthcare providers. Improved data collection and sharing via Salesforce.
• Collaborated with 40+ Care Coordinators from the Communities offering and the greater Included Health community on equity-focused education and difficult provider searches. Provided health equity-focused education to providers and clinics, improving their understanding of LGBTQ+ and Black health.
• Interacted regularly with members, providing guidance around healthcare and insurance as well as case management services. Connected members with resources, providers, and education. Advocated on behalf of members with insurance plans, provider offices, providers, and others.

• Developed and implemented strategies for communication and outreach to support the following program areas under the Chronic Disease Prevention Unit: Heart Disease and Stroke, Diabetes Prevention and Control, Nutrition, and Physical Activity.
• Designed and edited complex documents, reports, and presentations. Maintained and regularly updated the CDPU web pages in Drupal. Maintained email and mailing lists for the public and specific stakeholders. Planned and assisted in handling logistics for virtual meetings, trainings, and webinars.
• Composed regular social media posts, working with internal communications officers and following government guidelines while crafting engaging content. Handled public health information with a health equity lens, centering marginalized communities. Worked on LMS development via an internal LMS.
• Assisted with grant management, including editing and developing deliverables. Provided training and technical assistance to CDC grantees working with the State of Wisconsin.
• Participated on internal and external workgroups, including the Wisconsin Diabetes Advisory Group, Wisconsin Heart Health Community of Practice, DHS DEI Culture Team, DHS Data Quality Workgroup, DHS LGBTQ Health Steering Committee, BCHP Health Data Equity Focus Group, and the Health Equity Advisory Team (HEAT).
